Voxelcraft: The Mine — Minecraft that opens in a browser
"Voxelcraft" is a 2D Minecraft-like sandbox: a procedurally generated mine built
from blocks that you can walk through, dig, build in and survive inside. There are
no image assets — the world, the textures and the characters are all drawn with
code on a canvas.

How the world works
Every run generates a fresh world: rolling grassland with forests, layered bedrock,
wandering cave tunnels and ore veins. The core rule of generation is that depth
sets the reward — coal sits near the surface, iron deeper down, gold lower still,
and diamonds only appear at great depth, exactly where torchlight matters most.
The deeper you descend, the richer the ore and the more dangerous the trip.
Mechanics the game is built from
- Mining. Every block has its own hardness: dirt breaks instantly, stone takes
about a second, diamond more than two. A bar above the block shows progress.
- Building. Eight hotbar slots: dirt, stone, planks, logs, brick, torches,
ladders and sand. Blocks come from your inventory — you can sink shafts, build
bridges and wall yourself off from zombies.
- Crafting. Torch (coal + log), ladder (planks), brick (stone), planks (log).
A torch is not decoration: it gives light and prevents zombies spawning nearby.
- Ladders. They let you climb vertically — without them a deep shaft becomes
a trap.
- Day and night. A cycle of about two and a half minutes. At night the world
falls dark, zombies crawl out of the caves, and without torches your visibility
shrinks to the circle of light around the miner.
- Zombies. They hunt the player, hop over one-block steps and strike in melee.
The pickaxe takes three swings to fell one — you can fight, or run and build a
wall.
What feeds the score
Ore value: coal 20, iron 35, gold 60, diamond 150, plus points for every block
mined and every zombie felled. The goal of a run is three diamonds; mining the last
one sends your score to the leaderboard.
Tips
Craft torches first and carry them: at night they save you from both darkness and
zombies. Do not dig straight down head-first — sink ladder shafts instead, so the
way back to the surface is always at hand. And remember: the richest diamond is
rarely alone — it sits in a vein, so when you find one, it pays to look around.
