Elemental Sandbox: Workshop — physics you can play with

"Elemental Sandbox" is a playground with honest cell physics: eleven elements

live by their own laws, collide with each other and give birth to new

materials. Next to the free workshop there are five tasks where you must

reach a goal, not just admire the picture.

Element physics

Every element is a density, a flow and a life cycle. Sand falls into cones,

water spreads to a level, oil floats on water and burns more eagerly than

wood, steam and smoke rise and disperse, ice melts next to fire, and acid

eats through everything except glass and walls. Seeds sprout when water is

nearby, and grass grows upward, feeding on moisture.

Reactions the workshop is built on

  • Water + fire → steam (and the fire dies).
  • Lava + sand → glass (on contact, so you pour sand from above).
  • Lava + water → stone and a burst of steam.
  • Fire + wood/oil/plant → a fire that spreads on its own.
  • Acid + almost anything → a hole (acid does not last forever).
  • Seeds + water → a plant that keeps growing up.

Five tasks

1. Basin. Fill the basin up to the line: think in shapes, not volumes.

2. Tree. Grow a forest from seeds on the ground with a water stream.

3. Glass. Set up a "lava above, sand below" line and get a flat solid sheet.

4. Fires. Douse every pillar of flame with water without drowning yourself.

5. Oil. Spread the oil across the reservoir floor.

Tips

Free mode (F) has no limits and no goals — that is where you test reactions.

In tasks, think in streams: sketch the path of the element first, then open

the tap.
