Regolith is a browser lunar-rover survey simulator built on Three.js. You pilot MU-7 CASSIOPEIA, a six-wheeled survey rover set down by descent sled on the floor of the Anaxagoras crater at seventy-three degrees north, on the far side of the Moon. Two hundred and fourteen days ago the outpost Beacon-9 sent four seconds of empty carrier signal and went silent. Your job is to survey the basin, restore the relay chain and find out what lies under the crater floor — and what the dossier leaves unsaid. There are no image assets: the regolith, craters, rim wall, the Earth hanging over the horizon, the dust kicked up by the wheels and every sound are generated live in the browser on WebGL2, with post-processing — bloom, film grain and chromatic aberration.

Controls

Controls: W/S throttle and reverse, A/D steer, Space brake, X right the chassis, G radar, R deploy or stow the arm (when it is out, W/S and A/D aim it), left click drill, B deploy a relay, T solar array, E interact, F headlights, C camera mode, P photo mode, Tab codex, H toggle HUD, Esc pause. On a phone there are two analog thumbsticks (drive on the left, look on the right) and large Scan / Arm / Drill / Relay buttons.

A few final tips

• Check out the demo mode on the game page — the AI shows how it is played, and repeating it yourself gets much easier.
• Play in short sessions: the best results come with a warmed-up head.
