Nova Lancer

Nova Lancer is a true 3D rail shooter — a rare breed in browsers. Your fighter

runs a fixed course like a train on rails, and all the freedom lives inside the

frame. One long sortie, "Azure Coast", carries you along the shore of planet

Aquarea: from a sunlit ocean with rock arches, through a red-rock canyon of

collapsing pillars, to the enemy's neon night fortress — and the boss waits out

on the open sea. Three difficulty levels, keyboard, mouse, gamepad and touch

controls, and not a single downloaded asset: everything is drawn and voiced by

code.

How flight works

The ship flies itself; you steer your position in the frame — WASD or the

arrows, on mouse left-click fires and right-click drops a bomb, on a gamepad

the stick flies while A fires, B bombs, R2 boosts and L2 brakes. Rings drift

across the course. A plain ring restores your shield, a gold ring is worth more

points, and three gold rings in a row raise the shield's ceiling — or, if it is

already maxed, grant an extra life. A blue checkpoint ring marks where you are:

after a loss you respawn there instead of back at the start.

The key technique is the charge shot. Hold the fire button to build energy,

then release: the lock-on grabs a whole group of enemies and the volley hits

them all at once. Single shots work, but swarms of drones fall far faster to a

lock-on blast. The second weapon is the smart bomb — a second tap detonates it

early instead of letting it fly on.

Barrel roll and dodging

Double-tap Q or E and the fighter corkscrews, its roll deflecting incoming

shots; holding the key banks the plane for a sharp sideways drift — a lifesaver

in the narrow canyon. On the gamepad the same roll is a double L1/R1.

Wingmen, upgrades and mines

Three wingmen hold formation beside you — Kota, Gantetsu and Rio. They cover

your fire, narrate the battle over the radio, and sometimes get into trouble:

when a tail of interceptors locks onto Kota, shake them off and you bank 3000

points for the rescue. Between zones the radio drops tactical hints, and

transports cut across with upgrades — the twin laser, the hyper laser and a

fresh smart bomb. On the approach to the fortress, mines drift in the water; do

not let one get close.

The boss: MIZUCHI

The finale is MIZUCHI, a mechanical sea dragon rising from the waves. The fight

runs in two phases: first destroy the turrets along its spine, then wait for the

jaw to open and strike the glowing core inside. The dragon sweeps a beam across

you and lobs missiles, so there is no time to idle.

Score, rank and medal

At the finish your kill score adds to bonuses — for hits, for the shield you

kept, for lives spared, and a flat 10,000 for a flawless run with no losses.

Your hit count sets a rank from C up to S (S only without a single loss), and a

precise streak earns a gold medal. The best result goes to the leaderboard.

What it is made of

Graphics, terrain, the ocean, effects, music and even the radio voices are all

generated by code right in your browser, with no external assets. It runs on a

phone too: drag the bottom-left to fly, and the bottom-right buttons are fire,

bomb, boost, brake and roll.
