Ash and Ember — a card roguelike where embers beat gold
Ash and Ember
The world has gone out. In your palms — a handful of embers, and it is the only resource that truly matters. Ash and Ember is a card roguelike where gold gets spent, cards come and go, but embers accumulate.

Ember is the heart of the game
In most deckbuilders there is mana that resets every turn. Not here. Ember accumulates through the entire fight and never drops between turns. Some cards bring it, others cash it all in — and the effect scales with the reserve you banked.
That creates constant tension: cash in now for guaranteed damage, or risk surviving one more turn for a blast that wipes half the board. It is not math you can solve in advance — it is a game of nerves.
Three styles, one deck
- Flame — hoard embers and detonate. Sudden and brutally hard.
- Ash — stack burn and finish with multi-hits. Slow, but the damage curve goes through the roof.
- Iron — block, thorns and plating. Turn the enemy's damage into its own pain.
Mixing is allowed, but keep the deck lean: after every fight it grows, and a bloated deck buries your best cards.
The map between fights
⚔️ Combat — gold and a card. 💀 Elite — hard, but drops a relic. 🏕️ Rest site — heal or upgrade a card. 🛒 Shop — purchases and card burning. ❓ Unknown node — a choice event.
This is where the most painful decisions happen. Burning a dead card in the shop is often better than buying a new one — try it and see.
Who will enjoy it
Fans of Slay the Spire who want something new in the same formula: three acts, rising difficulty, relics and unpredictable events. A run can be finished in an evening, and then you start again — a different seed, a different deck, a different tactic.
