Crossword: Word Grid
Crossword: Word Grid is the newspaper-puzzle classic, always at hand. Four
9×9 grids: two Russian, two English, eight words each. Words interlock on
shared letters — and it is the interlocking that makes a crossword more
interesting than a plain list of riddles: one correct letter can unlock two
words at once.
Controls revolve around the tap: pick a cell and its word is highlighted,
type letters and the cursor moves on by itself. On phones the on-screen
keyboard covers Cyrillic and Latin, on desktop the regular keyboard with
arrows and Backspace works as expected. The «Check» button honestly marks
mistakes in red and correct letters in green: the grid turns green cell by
cell, which is the best kind of progress bar.
Every grid is validated automatically at load time: crossing letters must
match and words must fit the board. A grid with a conflict refuses to load —
so a player can never meet an unsolvable crossword.
The demo mode shows the AI filling the answers word by word: handy when you
are stuck and want to see the principle. The leaderboard notes everyone who
solves a grid — and the HUD keeps the time.
