Browser racing games — feel the speed

What matters in these races is the feel of speed, not tyre physics: the road rushes under the wheels and the job is to hold your lane. The first games are Outrun-style retro arcades — pseudo-3D, oncoming traffic and a point for every overtake.

Further down are the ones with more to do than steer: a garage with unlockable cars and nitro, kart racers with drift and items, a race against seven AI drivers, and the only open world here, with weather and seasons. Controls are the same everywhere — arrows or WASD; on phones some games add on-screen buttons or a virtual wheel.

Questions and answers

What do I need to start?
Nothing: the game opens in the browser and the up arrow is the throttle. No sign-up, nothing to download.

Are there races against rivals, not just traffic?
Two: a kart racer against seven AI drivers with drift, and a karting game with eight racers. The rest are survival runs against traffic and the clock.

Can I play on a phone?
Yes: some games add on-screen buttons, a virtual wheel or tilt steering. The exact set is on each game page.

Why do some games have a garage and coins?
In one game coins collected on the road unlock new cars and nitro boosts. The progression is optional: the first car drives fine.
